Innovative and influential designer Stefan Sagmeister makes a credible argument for taking a year off from work every seven years. The video also showcases a marvelous collection of his inspiring work. What would you do with a year of purposeful experimenting?
What a great concept and question. For starters, I would watch more videos like this. 🙂 And I would take classes in painting, photography (stills and video), Photoshop, and Final Cut Pro. Dance and trapeze could be fun too. Travel to the Southwest and Hawaii…shall I go on?
I love the idea of a “palate cleanser.” I do it every week by unplugging from the computer for 24 hours. It’s akin to visiting a spa!
You may know about this already, Alice, but there’s a terrific online training web site called lynda.com where you could take your Photoshop, Final Cut Pro and photography courses. It costs $25 per month and you can use it as much or as little as you want. I love it!
